About this event
Every first Saturday in March, the centre of Santa Eulària des Riu comes alive with music, the scents of the sea, and the celebration of Fira des Gerret, a gastronomic event that honours one of the most delicious fish in the Ibizan repertoire: gerret (a sardine-like fish).
From 12:00 pm, with the traditional brulada de corn (conch-blown horn) and a local Ibizan dance (ball pagès) performance, a day full of activities for all ages begins. Plaça d’Espanya and the streets of Sant Jaume and s’Alamera host around twenty food stalls where local restaurants present tasting dishes made with fresh gerret caught by the fishing cooperatives of Santa Eulària and Sant Antoni: from classic recipes like cabbage rice to innovative versions.
The atmosphere is completed with live music, a maritime and artisanal market, and children’s activities, making this day a perfect family experience. Additionally, throughout the week, some local restaurants offer special gerret-themed menus so the flavour of this festival can last even longer.
