A pictorial glimpse of mid-20th-century Santa Eulària and its people

The light, colour and ancestral customs of the island fascinated the Catalan painter Laureà Barrau i Buñol when he first came to Ibiza in 1912. From then on, he returned several times until he finally moved to Santa Eulària with his wife in the 1930s, where he remained until his death in 1957. In this room featuring his work, you can take a look at the Ibizan landscapes of yesteryear and the local people he portrayed. With a style influenced by historicism, eclecticism and naturalism, his work is also accessible to children, who find in his paintings a window onto the past of Ibiza.
