Centro de interpretación de Sa Capelleta
Discover three historical periods of Ibiza!
Between 2002 and 2008, site number 12 at Sa Capelleta street was the object of several archaeological campaigns that uncovered a valuable transitional area between Dalt Vila and the Puig des Molins site.
In this interpretation centre you can find three periods of the island's history:
- The oldest occupation of the site dates from the Punic period. Numerous materials have been found, mainly from the late Punic period, both locally manufactured and imported from Italy, Iberia, North Africa, etc.
- In Roman times, this area was used for tombs, becoming a necropolis between the 2nd and 4th centuries AD.
- Finally, there is an important site from the Islamic period, as it has been possible to identify an urban suburb outside the walls. These structures must be put in relation to those excavated inside the Puig des Molins enclosure to give us an idea of the dimensions that this suburb may have had.
